Farmer's Market

Pineville's Downtown Farmers Market Opening May 21st 8am on Main St & Church St

The Town of Pineville is proudly sponsoring our 2011 Downtown Farmers Market. The Town wants to encourage the sales of locally produced Fruits, Vegetables and Crafts from North and South Carolina. Starting May 21st the DFM will be set up in the parking lot of the Pineville Police Department from 8am - 1pm on Saturdays and 3pm - 7pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays. Please come up to support local growers and to enjoy some of the freshest fruits and vegetables around.

The goal of the Pineville Planning and Zoning Department is to respond to the questions and concerns of property owners, residents, elected and appointed officials regarding the development and use of land. Staff for the Planning and Zoning Department work on a variety of issues; from day-to day ordinance enforcement and compliance, long-range planning goals and policies on how the community as a whole should develop. Planning and Zoning provides staff assistance to the Planning Board, Board of Adjustments, and Town Council for issues related to rezonings, zoning text amendments, subdivision regulations, variances, land use plans, and similar activities.

Questions or comments regarding the Zoning Ordinance, the Use Classification, Subdivision Ordinance, planning issues or code enforcement complaints should be directed to this department. The Planning and Zoning Department office receives calls and visitors daily asking about existing zoning, potential new development, regulations for signs, neighborhood nuisance property. Pineville's mapping department is also part of the Planning and Zoning Department. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

If you are a resident looking to put an addition or deck onto your house you can contact the County directly to receive a permit. The LUESA South Office can assist residence with the permits.

The Planning Department has provided some helpful links on the right side. The link to Mecklenburg County POLARIS is a Web Based interactive map that provides information on all properties in Mecklenburg County. This site provides; tax information, building sizes, and other valuable information. Another helpful site is the Mecklenburg County Economic Development website. Mecklenburg County in joint partnership with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce have developed an Economic Development GIS Mapping website to provide national businesses of interest a decision making tool with a wealth of geospatial information to help them to consider relocating their business to Charlotte-Mecklenburg, North Carolina. This interactive mapping system will also provide local business an invaluable tool for local business expansion and relocation.

The Mecklenburg-Union Metropolitan Planning Organization (MUMPO) consists of voting representatives from CharlotteCorneliusDavidson,HuntersvilleMatthewsMecklenburg CountyMint Hill, and Pineville inMecklenburg County.  Indian TrailMonroeStallingsUnion County,WaxhawWeddingtonWesley Chapel and Wingate each have voting representatives from Union County.  The North Carolina Board of Transportation is also a voting member.  Non-voting members on the Board are from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission, the Union County Planning Board, the North Carolina Turnpike Authority and the US Department of Transportation.

It is the MUMPO's responsibility to coordinate transportation policy for local governmental jurisdictions within the Charlotte Urbanized Area.*

The MUMPO, in cooperation with the State, develops transportation plans and programs for the urbanized area. Plans that will: 1) Assist governing bodies and official agencies in determining courses of action and in formulating attainable capital improvement programs in anticipation of community needs; and, 2) Guide private individuals and groups in planning their decisions which can be important factors in the pattern of future development and redevelopment of the area.
