Benefits Snapshot

The Town of Pineville offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes Medical, Dental and Vision coverage, as well as an Employee Assistance Program. These are provided at no cost to the employee with an option to purchase additional insurance for dependents. Additionally, we offer llife insurance, short-term and long-term disability, Flexible Spending Accounts and an array of Supplemental Insurances.

The Town of Pineville is part of the North Carolina Retirement System and as a condition of employment, 6% of every employee's salary is deducted from their paychecks for the retirement fund.   This is a defined benefit plan and an employee's retirement is based upon years of credited service.  An employee is fully vested after five years of credited service.

We also offer a voluntary 401(k), defined contribution plan, with the Town matching up to 5% of an employee's contribution.  Sworn law enforcement personnel will automatically receive a 5% match regardless of their own contributions. Once enrolled, an employee is vested immediately.  For those who wish to contribute more than the maximum allowable amount, a 457(b) plan is also available but there is no employer match of funds with this plan.  Applying for a hardship withdrawal from a 457(b) plan is less restrictive than with the traditional 401(k) plans and there are no additional tax penalties for withdrawing your funds regardless of what age you withdraw them, making this plan an attractive alternative for some.

Employees are eligible to enroll in a savings plan designed to help pay for college expenses with the NC529 College Savings Plan. There are a variety of options available to meet most needs.
