March 17th thru June 25rd
Designed to get you moving this 100-day event is Pineville Parks and Recreation first program to promote active living in the community where you live, work and play. Beginning March 17, 2012 @ 9AM we will have a 5K kick-off party in Lake Park. The program will officially end on June 25, 2012. Participants will commit to walk, run or peddle 100 miles in 100 days. Take the challenge and start tracking your miles on March 17th with the paper log provided by Active Ally, our fitness guru, online or at the Kick-Off. If you choose you can also use one of many fitness tracking apps available for mobile devices (i.e. RunKeeper, My Tracks, Daily Burn).
What are you waiting for, sign up and commit to being fit this spring! A $5 fee will enroll you into the program, or you can add a fashionable moisture wicking t-shirt for a $15 fee.
Official participants who sign up will also receive consistent emails and blog posts with updates, walking/running routes and extra motivation from Active Ally, our official promoter for the Pineville 100 ml'r! Registered participants will also be entered into random drawings to win free prizes throughout the 100 day event. YOUNG CHAMPIONS OF AMERICA CLASSES (Ages: 4 - 13)
LOCATION: BELLE JOHNSTON COMMUNITY CENTER
SELF-DEFENSE
Course Description: This fun course for children is designed for self-defense purposes emphasizing child safety awareness. We do not teach bullying tactics. Self-discipline rather than aggressiveness is promoted. A certified black belt will instruct various basic self-defense/karate techniques and forms. NO Physical contact is allowed in beginner classes. Students completing the course with perfect attendance will receive an award! Testing is available for rank promotion. Each class is 45 minutes long once a week and divided by age and ability. Registration fee: $8 Class fee $7 per class paid weekly.

Belle Johnston Community Center Rec Days for Tweens and Teens!
Every Tuesday from 2:30 - 5:30 beginning March 6th the BJCC will offer corn hole, ping pong or ½ court basketball. Must be a Pineville resident or pay a guest fee of $5.
Pineville Teen Council
Pineville Parks & Recreation is forming a Teen Council. This will be a volunteer organization made up of fun and fascinating teens ranging from 6th - 12th grades from the Pineville feeder schools. Teens who participate in the organization will have the opportunity to get involved in programs and events that focus on social/recreational, community service, leadership and teamwork. The first meeting will take place at 5:00 pm on February 3rd at the Belle Johnston Community Center, dinner will be served. If you would like to be a part of this group join us at our first meeting or call Kristy or Heather at 704.889.2400. Applications are available at the Community Center.
Teen Council Events - Enjoy games, music, movies and more! Parents can rest assured their teen is in a safe, secure and encouraging environment. Drop in for a night of fun! Open to 6th - 12th graders! Other activities will include; opportunities to earn community service hours, money management, college essay writting class, etc.
